Offers Based on a Customer's Purchase History
Target repeat customers with Smart Offers based on what they bought before - bundles, free gifts, loyalty offers, upsells and complete-the-package offers.
A relevant offer beats a random one. What a customer bought before tells you what they are likely to buy next: someone who buys gadgets will want more gadgets, and someone who bought a laptop will want accessories for it. Smart Offers lets you show offers based on that history.
Offers for repeat customers
- Bundles: if they bought a shirt for $25, offer a bundle of three for $55.
- Free gifts: if they have spent more than $1,500 with you so far, give them a free gift they will like.
- Loyalty offers: for customers who signed up a while ago and have spent $500, show a discount coupon or store credit in the offer description.
- Upsells: if they ordered a lower-priced product earlier, offer a higher-value one at a discount.
- Complete the package: if they bought trousers and shirts but no belt, offer a belt to complete the set.
Rules to use
These are user based rules in Step 3 of creating an offer:
- Has / Has not purchased: show the offer to customers who did (or did not) buy given products.
- Has / Has not previously purchased from category: the same, for a whole category.
- Has previously purchased less than / more than or equal to: by how much the customer has spent in your store so far.
Where to show the offer
Show these offers on the My Account, cart or checkout page (Show Offer on Page). If a customer who already owns a laptop is buying a laptop accessory, show promotional items on the cart or checkout page. A store credit on My Account encourages another purchase.
Build a funnel
Choose what happens when the customer accepts or skips the offer: a thank-you message, or another offer. Chained this way, offers become a full sales funnel.
