Smart Subscriptions FAQ
1. Does this work with other payment gateways besides Stripe?
Currently, Smart Subscriptions is designed to work primarily with Stripe through the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway.
2. Can I offer free trials?
Yes! Each subscription product can have its own free trial period. Simply set the trial period (in days) when creating your subscription product. Learn more.
3. What happens if a payment fails?
The plugin automatically retries failed payments up to 4 times with increasing intervals. If all retries fail, the subscription is automatically cancelled and the customer is notified.
4. Can customers manage their own subscriptions?
Absolutely! Customers can view, pause, resume, and cancel their subscriptions directly from their My Account page.
5. Is this compatible with other subscription plugins?
Smart Subscriptions uses its own post types and data structure to avoid conflicts with other subscription plugins like WooCommerce Subscriptions.
6. Can I customize the email templates?
Yes! All email templates can be overridden by copying them to your theme’s woocommerce/emails/smart-subscriptions/ directory. Learn more.
7. Does it support variable subscription products?
Currently, it supports simple subscription products. Variable subscription support is planned for future releases. Submit a request here.
8. Is there an API for external integrations?
Yes! The plugin provides a comprehensive REST API under the /wp-json/smart-subscriptions/v1/ namespace.
